Tips For Writing Wedding Vows
Wedding vows are the promises you make during one of the most important events in your life. They’re also our favorite part of the wedding ceremony… queue up the happy tears!
While couples have the option to say traditional vows, many choose to personalize the wedding ceremony by writing their own. We’ve compiled the following tips on how to write wedding vows that will give everyone the feels!
Tips for writing wedding vows
Describe your significant other – As you begin to write your vows, start by describing your loved one and what makes them so special to you. For example: “Today, I will marry the kindest, funniest person I know. . . ”
Tell a story – Tell a short and memorable story. Perhaps it’s the story of how you met, or how you knew your S.O. was the one.
Make promises – State all the promises you will uphold. For instance, “I promise to be by your side through life’s ups and downs. I promise to laugh with you and to cry with you. I promise to never leave your side.”
Wrap it up – Finish your vows with a touching sentiment. Perhaps it’s an anecdote about your future, or a final vow that sums up all of your vows.
Other tips
Gather ideas – As you begin to write your vows, make a list of all the things you love about your significant other. This will help you organize your thoughts and may help you come up with ideas.
Keep it short and sweet – Don’t forget to keep the vows short and sweet! This will keep your guests’ attention and will make it more memorable for everyone.
Read them out loud – Practice reading through your vows with someone you trust before saying them at the altar!
Speak from the heart – All that matters is that you’re marrying the love of your life, so can’t go wrong so long as you speak from your heart.
