It's February. It's cold outside. How do you inspire special event professionals to get enthused about their upcoming special events? Throw an over-the-top beach party!
For West Belmont Place at the National Conference Center's annual client appreciation party, Olivera Music Entertainment was tasked with providing the perfect entertainment. We presented two unique beach music sounds, consisting of "Oasis," a reggae/calypso band, and "Key West,' a Jimmy Buffett cover band.
Guests entered the party via the ballroom foyer, greeted by a small subset trio from "Oasis", playing calypso standards, fronted by a steel drummer. It was a perfect "Welcome to the islands!" greeting.
As the ballroom doors opened, "Key West" fired up immediately recognizable Jimmy Buffett songs with a lead vocalist who sounded just like the real thing. This five-piece band played in front of a 10' x 10' screen showing footage of old beach movies.
"Oasis," now in full force as a six-piece band, took the stage following "Key West." Driving reggae music brought dancers to the elaborately lit dance floor. A sultry female lead vocalist added a perfect contrast to the earlier "Parrothead" feel to the event.
It may have been cold and wintry outside, but with great music, fabulous food, perfect decor and island drinks, all of the guests were truly transported to the island of their choice.
